Avon (formerly, Associated and Marsh)[2] is an unincorporated community in Contra Costa County, California. It is located on the Southern Pacific Railroad 3.5 miles (5.6 km) east-northeast of Martinez,[2] at an elevation of 10 feet (3 m).
A post office operated at Avon from 1912 to 1960.[2] It was originally called Marsh, and in 1913 the name was changed to Associated.[2] The name Marsh was in honor of John Marsh.[2] The name Associated was for the Tidewater Associated Oil Company, owner of the site.[2]
